(THESIS) - FAULKNER-S STYLE - A LECTURE ON STREAM-OF-CONSCIOUSNESS - Manoel Ferreira

INTRODUCTION

Before writing "Critique de La Raison Dialectique", Sartre writes his preface just to establish his ways of analysing a phenomenon, his method of trying to compreend and understand the basis of his ideas and thoughts, his philosophy. "Questions de Method" has become the very essencial and fundamental to study and understando Sartre- s philosophy, the knowledge is a way of the being, mut, in a materialistic perspective, it´s not allowed to think in reducing the being to the knowledge.

Thinik of writing an Essay about Faulkner´s word, we do plan to move a Sartre´s Essay about Falkner: "On the Sound and the Fury: Time in Faulkner´s Work into English, because we knew them, Sartrés ideas, in Portuguese and French. As I had read the upper essay for ages. As I had read "The Sound and the Future", by Faulkner, I thought of improving , developing and increasing, it had been a hard work. For better or for worst, it doesn´t matter; the most importante was to be done. While I was moving into English, I tru to analize Faulkner, his ideas of time, his philosophy.

After ending the Essay, I had thought something might have been written just to complete the ideas. Obsviouly, it´s the very needed to comprehend and understand one of the most important dimension in Literature: Style. With this dimension it´s te very easy to deep into Aesthetics. Tie and Style are synthesis of the particular and the subjective. So, I tried to write another Essay, abou Falkner´s Style, just to analyse the deliberation of his effects, the intensity of his conception, and the besetting and depressing looseness, the almost sick passivity, of his baic meaning and purpose; and that complicated technique "seems to spring from an obscure and profligate confusion, a manifest absence of purpose, tather than from and elaborate but coherent aim.
